Its called racial profiling, and in your case it isnt against the law. People of every walk, race, creed and religion can steal...look at Wynona Rider (rich and still stole things)
I would go to your supervisor, and explain to her that you are Hispanic/Mexican, and let her know you took offense to her remarks. If you checked out the EEO policy, it is probably in violation of that. If she continues to speak that way around you, then she obviously has no regard for your feelings.
Your best bet would be to give her the benefit of the doubt, and go to er and explain things....at least then you have done all the right things and taken the right steps to reslove the issue....then if you file a grievance, you are in the clear.

It is discrimination. Point blank in the retail field it happens a lot but to link it to specific races is wrong. Wynona Rider is white she stole.... Most of the people that steal are the ones that think they can get away with it. Rich or poor it really doesn't matter. If you feel discriminated against let her know or tell the manager or owner of the store. Stereotypes are always going to happen but it doesn't make it right.
Watch out for the people who look suspicious. All Races

I believe this is called "racial profiling". Is it wrong? Absolutely!
Since the alternative is to watch EVERYONE carefully and that is not always possible, I think your supervisor was only trying to make your job easier by applying her experiences. I'd take what she said with a grain of salt and try to observe everyone as carefully as I could.
The sad part is that as long as people get away with shoplifting, whatever their color, race,or financial standing, they will continue to do it. (Look at Winona Ryder...)
I'm sorry to say that groups of teens also get this kind of scrutiny when they go shopping. There are some kids I won't let my daughter go shopping with because I'm afraid that she'll be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'd look out for them cos your manager is right. I also work in retail and my family is from Mexico. And I can tell you that these people disproportionally are responsible for a LOT of theft at my store. It is a horrible thing to say, but even more horrible that it is true.

Employee and customer discrimination is not appropriate. Being aware of the businesses statistics and demographics for theft is appropriate. However, blanket discrimination isn't appropriate, but it isn't illegal. I assume you are still selling to black and mexican individuals? You are hiring them if qualified? If discrimination is occuring, then yes report. There are enough biggets in this world.

she is discriminating against these two groups of people, but it's your job to do what she says. if she is discriminating against you; say she knows your Mexican and tells you that because you're Mexican, you can only mop the floors, or whatever, I would file a harassment claim against her. only your momma should give you sh*t, not your boss.

Racism is in every human being so her upbringing or previous experiences may have led her to say that. So don't mind her just look out for the real culprit, atleast you don't group them.
