you seem to have an older computer, so getting a restore disc might be difficult.

your computer maker's site MIGHT mave some for sale, usually around $20+shipping.

If not, windows 98 can be bought on ebay for about $30.

using system restore will not do any thing, as it only changes settings, not files, programs, viruses, ect.

You need the discs... If you own the licence to Windows98, you can simply get a copy from anyone as long as you have your original product identification number to install it with. Otherwise your screwed besides buying a copy from someone else...

NA: Windows 98 does not have system restore... the idea came out with ME and was greatly improved in XP

You can restore Win98 from a full system backup but you still need the operating system disk.

Turn on your PC then press F8, dont let it boot win98. F8 will lead you to c:/ prompt then type this> scanreg/restore or you can do scanreg/fix to fix any error. good luck

note: restore will ask you to choose from previous date when you have run your PC in good condition. i advice you to choose the oldest and before restoring better try to use fix first. good luck
