a minimum of two years so mum's body can heal and get strong again before carrying the next child...
while pregnant all the good stuff in the mum's food goes to bub first then mum gets the left overs...
mum's abdomenal muscles need to regain strength and flexibility
mum needs to get used to bub and bub needs to get used to mum before the next one comes along
two years is the minimum length of time and I dont think there really is a maximum length of time... though I imagine a ten year old who is quite used to being an only child may not like the intrusion of a new baby....

When you feel ready! My sister waited to get pregnant the 2nd time until her first was toilet trained so she didn't have both in nappies. A friend has kids 18month apart a loves it & the interaction the 2 have together. But it depends on you and the kids.

From experience of being the much yonger sister though, don't have 2 close togther and then a 3rd 6 years later - it really sucks being that 3rd child & so much younger than the other 2!

They typically say to wait for 10 months. But I know this girl who has 5 kids under the age of 7. So they didnt wait the 10 months and their children are just fine. The only thing that is wrong with them is that they never get enough attention from their parents. Too much to handle.

About 2 or more years give the first one time to be a baby.

If you had a normal birth, depending how soon you want another, one year or one year and a half is okay, but if you had c-section, at least 2 years. So I'd say in general 2-3 years apart I htink it's okay... You decide if you want to stretch that gap, or not.
I wanted mine 2 years apart becasue I want to be done and take care of business... so to speak ... I have them one after another and be done when I am done. It's the hardest in the beginning.

when you feel the time is right. for some people its several years and some want kids back to back. as long as the doc gives the ok. just remember that pregnancy is rough on the body (my doc suggested waiting a year to get pregnant again).

I have 2.5 years between my 1st and 2nd, nearly 3 years between 2nd and 3rd and there will be nearly 3 years between my 3rd and 4th.
I have planned it this way, I found I could cope well with this age gap. I think its personal choice my friend had 5 years between her sons.
