No, I was not "eluding" to that, nor was I alluding to it. But, you did not prove your point by the answer you gave here now did you?

Way over!
Some of the questions, and answers, that I've come across are childish, irrelevant, or egotistical. But then there are those who are asking genuine brain-teasers or are seeking real answers without the joking. I doubt if age has alot of bearing on it, as I have made some goofy remarks of my own. When I believe that someone is seeking a true answer, I try to give my honest opinion, or I choose to not answer because of my lack of knowledge. There are times I spend quite a bit of energy researching my answer, whether I will "win" points or not. To me, that isn't the point of answering. To be helpful to another is.

Hit the evil 40 this year.

It's rather representive of life I guess. You see some really brilliant ideas, questions, answers. You see the lame, the folks with thier hands jumping up saying me me me but without much else to say. The fanatics are of course the most vocal, many one topic wonders.

In my time here I feel I've really helped a few people. The thank you notes are what makes this place worth all the effort I put into some of my answers. I too am guilty of getting up on that podium and figure reading other's rants is just paying my dues so others will read mine.

For me though, the biggest lack I see is tolerance. People's interests are different, thier likes, dislikes. The Yahoo staff however is too busy removing the most blatant of the really vile posts to notice any other kind of violation. There are crews of course working the system. Challenging any post that is contrary to thier particuler fanatical view on a subject. Some topic areas seem to be a sea of removed posts. I'd love to see the numbers on removed posts by topic area, number of posts by the poster as the most vile seem to come from fake accounts.

YA has a way of putting the things people are really thinking in some areas of the nation/world into a spotlight. Many folks try to shout such things down without understanding the root cause or effects. They often take on the exact same charactoristics as those they are trying to shout down. It's almost amusing if it wasn't eating up so much bandwidth.

If a lack of maturity was what you were after. It's not out there in society either. Turn on a tv and you'll see the same level of maturity you see here. Look at our "leaders" and "role models" and you are not going to find maturity there either. The media spotlights imaturity like it was a rare substance then glorifies it. So it is unlikely no matter what age bracketing you created that you'd a noticable improvement in maturity. In fact some really interesting questions have come from the under 21 crowd. A few of the better answers I've read have as well.

In the more fluid days of Fidonet then Usenet there was a device called a twit filter. That might not be such a bad idea here :) It allowed you to block certain users. Thier output just became invisible. Thus reducing the time necessary to read the more thought out answers and replies. Unfortunately any rating system that was created would be trashed instantly by the organized thought gangs running around on YA. You see coirdinated attacks on posters because of ideology at times. Sometimes a clear minority of opinion has thorugh sheer vocalness created some mini-censorship issues. Any rating system would be sure to be tilted by such organized bashing.

In my opinion, most of the questions are either geniune things people want to discuss or learn about or are the get to know other people kinds of questions. So overall it works as concieved. I would not use this site for medical advice or anything else crucial as I've seen many very wrong answers, some of them even picked as best answers. I have also seen poor answers chosen because the best reflected the intent of the asker rather than the actual question and answer. The old I'll believe what I want to believe I was just asking for reinforcement kind of thing. While it's annoying to do real research and put real effort into something and see it all ignored completely. It's also a part of life. A lesson. In the end the answerers probably learn more than the askers on here. Even if it's just about themselves.

Are you eluding to the conclusion that questions posted on this site by those under the age of 35 to be contributing to the degradation of the quality of questions and answers on Y!A? Because I have noticed that many of the racist, pedophile-esq immature or unnecessary questions come from people of all different ages. And personally, people over the age of 35 who have enough time to habitually post on this site may actually excrete an augmented portion of the f'ed up questions/answers i skim across while waiting for next semesters classes to start.

I would appreciate you keeping your age descrimination with your used condom wrappers --> in the garbage!

Im over 35 and the questions on here are mostly coming from kids that are going through puberty.
Yahoo needs a kiddie korner and figure out a way to keep the kids there.

Does 35 and 10 months count? (I hope not.)

I don't bother to think about "most" of the questions and answers. I have a few sections I'm interested in, and enjoy the posts in there. Sections that are filled with anger, I just generally avoid.

I don't mind people who are here just for fun. I don't appreciate people who are here to spread their hateful agendae.

Almost. 35. I'm a night auditor at a hotel. I'm just burning time until I go back to school. Some of the questions are stupid, some of them not so. I like the funny ones.

I'm 56 and I'm beginning to think I'm the oldest one on here. Although there's a lot of weird stuff, there are some genuine people seeking answers, and I know that I'm able to help.

46/ I can do without the "chat" type of questions, and the sexually graphic one's. I also don't tolerate America or American's being put down. I think there are many legitimate questions and answers.
