At work, boss came in very frantic and was pushing things off tables to set t.v. on and plug in. Didn't understand until set came on, then understood. Everyone in shock. Entire restaurant got quiet, no one moved, tears in everyones eyes. I pray daily that no one, anywhere on this planet ever have to witness that carange again in any way, shape or form. Peace.

I was in the same situation you were. At school. I was a 7th grader and I remember being horrified. Everyone was. It was terrible. We got sent home for the rest of the day and the next day because we live on a major Naval Base. They were thinking about cancelling the entire week but we all ended up going back on Thursday. I remember looking around my classroom and seeing everyone's eyes glued to the TV screen. It was VERY surreal. I remember thinking, "but this is america. bad things like that don't happen here". My teacher was hysterical. She lost her brother in law. I remember watching her answer her cell phone then just collapse to the ground crying. Its one of those things that changes you forever, even if it didnt' directly impact you or your family.

I was at school in class. My teache rhad the radio on NPR. One of the students wanted to change the channel to a music station. But my teacher said no maybe somebody wants to hear about the World Trade Center. I wasn't listening to the radio but my ears perked up beacause my aunt worked on one of the top floors.
Just then the bell rang as I was walking to my next class I passed by a room with a TV thats when I saw the second tower fall. I ran down to the office and tried to call my family back home in New York. I couldn't reach anybody.
I called my father and told him what was going on he had no idea. He told me to go back to class and he would finish calling everybody.
I couldn't concentrate through my next couple of classes. I decided to call my grandmotheer in DC afterall her daughter works in the WTC. Once again I couldn't get through. I had no idea that another plane crashed into the Pentagon where 2 more of my relatives worked.
The only good thing about that day was that out of the grace of GOD noone in my family was hurt. My aunt had taken the week off and was no where near the WTC and my other family memebers were not in the side of the Pentagon that was hit.

I was in Canada.
When I switched on the TV and saw the towers collapsing I thought it wasnt real! I thought it was an ad for a new movie!
I have been to the towers in 1989. I loved it there. It was so sad!
I went to the US Embassy in the following few days and a lot of people were there with flowers. It was so moving, I cried so much :( When I placed white roses on the sidewalk there I prayed for the souls of the innocents victims that died!

Was going out the door to go to work, and stopped to turn off the tv before I left and the 1st plane had just crashed. By the time I got to work, the second plane had hit. We didnt have a tv at work, could only listen to the radio and get info from people coming in (work in an dr's office). But work almost was at a standstill. No one called in for appointments. We closed the office at lunch (which we never do) and had a prayer session because we were all upset.

It was the morning before the first day of classes during my freshman year of college. My entire college career was colored by that event.
I slept in that morning, but when I woke up at about 10am (EST) I could just sense that something was wrong in the air. I spent the rest of the day in front of the TV with my roommates. Then I finally had to just get some air so I went outside and went for a walk. In the evening my university had a candlelight vigil. Someone took a picture of me, and it ended up on the front page of the New York Times!

I was at home asleep (still quite early Pacific Time) when my friend called me and told me to turn on CNN. I had only been watching for a few minutes when the second plane hit. It was some scary s**t. Later that day, I had to go to work and we had a TV going in the store running some dumb tape for Sonicare or something. Instead of using the tape that day, we had it tuned to the local ABC station as good as it could come in. There were people gathered around it the entire day while they shopped.

I was visiting my sister.
I had just gotten out of bed, and come downstairs to the family room. My sister was nowhere to be found; she had gone to the grocery store for something. She had left the TV on, and I just stood there, trying to understand what the hell was happening.
I had the same feeling you did, not believing what I was seeing.
I remember thinking, later that day, that the President would never let this slide, and that he would blow the world up to find the guilty, and I was glad for that, at least. I still am.
I honestly don't think that Kerry would have done much besides petition the U.N., and try to nudge France into action because he speaks French.
But, I'm drifting off the point. This is an excellent question, and I'm looking forward to reading other posts.

I always met my high school boyfriend for coffee at starbucks our senioe year. I heard about the one plane hitting the tower on the radio on my way to school. But at that time they thought it was just an accident. When I got to school everything was normal and then the announcments came on and told us about the terrorists. We had class that day but the tv was on in every classroom and thats all we did the whole day. I saw the live news when the second plane it hit the tower, I saw bodies falling from the building, it was horrible. I will never forget it and I will tell my kids one day.

I was at home, drinking coffee, turned on the TV about 15 minutes before the second plane hit. My husband and I were horrified. I was scared. No one at first new how many planes were out there. I think I cried for a long time.

I was getting ready for work when the first one hit. By the time the second one hit I was getting ready to walk out the door. When the third and fourth one hit I was at work. The people around me at work could not believe this was happening, as well as I could not believe it. It was/is/and will forever be a terrible day for America.
