I think the main problem is that they just havent been brought up on it. Ive had some friends come over on holidays here in Australia and Ive taken them to a One Day Game
Once they got a quick rundown on the rules and were able to ask a few ongoing questions, they were just blown away by the skill, courage and fielding abilities required.
The main thing that blew their mind was the fact that the bowler was able to bowl this very hard ball which weighs about 1 1/2 x the weight of a baseball directly at the batsman on purpose and legally. They thought that that was mad.

I don't know, it is played in poncy places where polo and rugby excels, ivy league places or taken up by expats from former cricketing playing nations. Apart from that it needs the exposure that soccer has had with the World Cup playing a big part in the development of the that particular game and until then it will struggle against the more popular sports that America has embraced and taken to their heart.

It is too slow and you can play for five days and have a draw, people not just Americans cannot see the logic in this.
