It is interesting in a free market economy how people look for socialistic solutions to high prices. But the government could drop the taxes from the price of fuel then it would be a little more affordable.

I think that people feel the government should regulate how much gas companies should charge for gasoline. I feel cheated when I think just ten years ago when I first started driving I paid 99 cents per gallon and it has over tripled in price today. Because of gas price gouging, prices for everything else has increased as well. This is getting way out of hand and I feel the government should step in. If they can't control how much gas companies can charge, then they need to increase minimum wage or lower certain taxes to make up for the high cost of gas.

You would think that people would understand the forces that drive the market are different from the government. For instance, our government can not control the increased demand for oil in China, India and other developing nations. The gas crunch during the 70's was worse than now, in as far as we had those horrible lines.

A barrel of oil yields about $2600 in profit from plastics, nylon, etc, plus about 25 gallons of a toxic by-product, which we call gasoline. If we were not using cars, the gas companies would have a huge disposal problem. They could give the stuff away and hardly notice a difference in their profits. As for the government, since anout 1915, there had been a law restricting profit on the gasoline to $2 per barrel. Abolishing that law was one of George Bush's first priorities. Now they can make as much as they want.

Because they have to vent on some one. Also because this administration is in bed with the oil companies and feel that they are taking the side of the oil co. and not the side of the people getting hurt by the prizes. This perception is not helped by the fact that most of the people in this administration at one time worked in the oil business. Many people feel that they high oil prices are pay back for helping Bush get elected with their campaign $$$$.

Because we are tired of being lied to. First it was the war, then it was some thing else, now they are saying that Alaska is closing an oil rig so gas is going to go even higher. We don't get our oil from Alaska, or the middle east, from what I understand, MOST of our oil comes from Canada(I read that some were). Why are country's like Columbia, way ahead of the U.S. on the whole green fuel thing? We are supposed to be one of the most advanced countries if not the most advanced. I also think its really funny that the president and his family obtained their wealth through "Black gold". One plus one will always equal two, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Someone is getting rich quick, and you and I are paying for it.

People blame the government because it is their fault. Not because gas prices are high, but because of their control over the auto industry. People do not realize that the auto industry has the ablility to manufacture cars with much better gas millage, but the govenment will not allow it to happen, because they would lose all sorts of campaing money from the oil companies

China is using more gas than they ever have. It seems that it's much easier to say that Bush, the oil man is conspiring to raise gas prices but no one considers that there are more people driving world-wide than ever before.

The oil companys are theives. But its supply and demand, China is using more and more. Blame the walmart shopper thats where a lot of this mess lies. Walmart is China 8th largest trading partner. To manufacture anything takes oil,we brought this on our selves
