I just received a job offer to move to Fairbanks. I'm a single female looking for the right end of town to live in to meet people (both males and females) to hang out with. Also looking for overall opinions of Fairbanks. Would love to buy a house so ends of town to look would be great.

a nice neighborhood to buy a house is off of Market street in the Riverview area... its off of Airport Way, one of our main streets...

Stay away from houses downtown as there are a lot of older houses and you have the wandering drunk natives lurking around every corner.. you might actually wake up to find one sleeping in your car..lol they are actually harmless just irritating...

then you got the houses outside of town like farmersloop, now they are nice houses out there, but very expensive and most have well water with way too much iron, then of course you have the icy roads to contend with.....

so anyway i would stick with the residential areas off of airport way or off the steese/farewell streets in the Hamilton Acres area... Good luck and in advance welcome to Fairbanks

I lived in Fairbanks for 16 years. If you are looking to purchase a home, I suggest you look on the hills around Farmer's Loop and at the West Chena Hills area (Chena Ridge). The BEST realtor in town in Chick Wallace. Fairbanks is a great place to live and has a phenomenal arts community. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you may have.

Fairbanks is an OK place. there are alot of drunk Alaskan natives wandering the streets there. all hooked on cocaine. all want cup a soups. i would recommend living in anchorage which is where I'm from, but its about 5 hours away from Fairbanks. you should at least visit anchorage. have fun and good luck. I'm jealous. i miss Alaska. i live in El paso now because of my husbands job. i wish i could move back. OK I'm rambling, bye
