I believe it is a bad idea. Yes It would help ensure finding your pet if ever lost. But think about it ... Unless you actually lose your pet it is going to be with you and so where the pet is you are... there for not only is the pet being tracked but you are being tracked. I read my bible and it talks about the "mark of the beast". I believe that the chip is that mark. I don't know what your religious point of view is. But even leaving religion out of it I believe that eventually everything, food, money, pets, people, will all be monitored and controlled. After hurricane Katrina FEMA has began to give people the chip. Right now it is optional, but I think very very soon it will become mandatory. So yes definitely leading to the military and babies born at the hospital. I feel like chipping your pet only brings you one step closer to mandatory chips in people. Being tracked does not give me a since of safety or freedom. I realize the chip has its pros and cons. The way I see it the negative affects outweigh the benefits. This is just my opinion but I hope this helped.

what's the problem? - pets can't exactly pick up a phone & call home if they are lost. They can't tell a police officer where they live and you can't file a missing persons report on a pet, can you?

What would you do if you found a micro chip in your steak you just agreed to pay 27 bucks for?

Good question, it's a great idea for pets, for humans? That smacks of big brother to me... Not sure I like that.
