By all means be yourself!
But to get his attention at first, you have to be willing to jazz it up a bit now and then. As teenagers, guys tend to be really shallow. They want a girls who looks nice. So make the effort towards hygiene, personal care, and to an extent, your fashion. Don't change that just for some guy, but make sure that you are happy with the way you look before you walk out the door. If you style your hair and/or use makeup, make sure you are doing what looks nice on you, not what your friend or the any other girl does.
No matter what your style, there are guys out there that will like it. If you are chasing one guy, and he doesn't notice you, then forget him. Be happy with yourself, and the right guy will notice you without you having to throw yourself at him.
I know as a teenager you want the popular and good looking guys to be that ones to like you, but they know that they can get girls that are just as shallow as they are, so they don't try as hard to be nice to them.
You may have a less popular guy asking you out, but I'll bet he treats you better than the star of school.

look be your self and you can get your man but if you try to be something your not and you will get caught in a lie and you ain't gone be able to explain and then he's going to hate you for lien but be your self and you will get him if you dint get him he;s not the right one see when i was your age i would ask the same thing now i know but be yourself and you will find true love trust me yourself and god sweat heart

Yes be yourself. But you might try to let him know you're there.
Flirt only as a last resort, it might give the wrong impression.
Be friendly.

Cook good food. Let him hold the remote. Pretend to like what he likes. Laugh at his jokes.
