its traditional to ask daddio but it depends on how your family does things. I know the dad would probably love the fact that this guy is man enough to talk to him about asking to marry his daughter...nothing wrong with that..probably make the relationship better between him and the in laws..instead of runnning off with their little girl and getting hitched:)

I like the boy asking permission because it shows respect to the parents of the girl, and that the girl is worth getting up the courage to ask.

I think it's a very courteous thing to do, especially if she's Daddy's little girl, or the first in her family to get engaged. Just think--you'll (hopefully) have to keep your father in law happy for a long time, and this is a good way to impress him.

I would love for my guy to ask my dad permission! My dad likes the one I am with. He hated my ex husband. My ex had no repsect for me and others. The one I am with now DOES have respect. In fact, I think that my dad would be honored to have my guy ask him 'permission' to marry me. :)
