seriously, we live in this old house, in the country (i love it) and bugs are usually not that bad of a problem...unless it has been raining for two days. if it has been raining (and it has), then every bug in the neighborhood knows that our house is the place to be. the most exciting place with lots of old books that seem like a really cozy spot to settle down in, with all of your little invertebrate babies.

so here i am, reading a yahoo question about a jumping minx and a pineapple (no kidding) and thinking "surely the answer is in the dictionary" only to open it and have a bunch of earwigs crawling all over my lap!

is there any thing grosser? (and if you can, -some of you probably can't...but try- please refrain from mentioning earwigs crawling out of other places. there, i've gone and said the most obvious brainless answer for you and now you dont need to. for the rest of you intelligent and intersting people...answer away!)

First of all, I really like the way you wrote this question.. you have a gift for writing, it's clever and I like the phrase "little invertebrate babies"... it made me laugh. thanks. and I'm not saying this because I want 10 pts :-) Earwigs are just gross. the shape of their abdomens and that little hooked tail .. and the story about them going into your ear at night when you're sleeping and they go right inside your brain from your ear canal... not scientifically verified but gross nonetheless. Hey, at least you had smart earwigs, they were reading the dictionary right? :-)

ok, I think I have something grosser, and it goes back to the time when I was growing up in Hawaii (the land of large arthropods ;)) and I went to open the fridge one day to get a snack and a huge cockroach was sitting in there eating on some food that was in there, I freaked out and took the whole bowl of food and started to throw it out when he started to fly and flew right up in my face! I knocked him down but he ran away.. that's something I'll never forget....

ugh, it was a while before I ate anything from the fridge for a while after that...

Now it's 20 yrs later and I work with insects for a living !! LOL :-)))

What is a earwig? I know someone who had a roach crawl in her ear and die.... does that count?
