I've heard places that dairy products are bad for vocal chords/singing voices is that true?

Dairy can increase the mucous you produce in your throat, and nasal passages. So it can cause tightness in your throat causing you to sing harder than you should, and possibly ruining your voice. It's generally a good idea to avoid dairy if you are going to be singing, and also if you have a cold or stuffy nose because it will make it worse.

I think dairy products cause increased phlegm production, so a singer's voice won't be as clear because of all the mucousy stuff in their throat.

They're not good to have right before singing because they kind of coat your throat. But that doesn't mean drinking milk etc. is bad for you any other time. But of course the best thing before singing is water.

Yea, most cause flem, citrus fruits are bad too, and don't believe that tea w/ the lemon and honey, the hot tea and lemon irritates your vocal cords and the honey just makes your voice clog up. water is the best way to keep them healthy.

Yes it makes your throat all slimy...and you get a lot of flem.
