Yes, you can see a female doctor. No, there are no akward questions. She'll just ask what other medications you're on, and if you've had any history (or family history) with heart disease, etc. Everything is presented matter-of-factly. Most likely, she will give you choices in the types of birth control available, and if you want pills, she'll help find the right one for you. You don't have to get a pap, but if you are having sex, you should get one annually anyways- every 2-3 years if in a loyal, monogamous realtionship.

You can see a female or male, which ever you feel most comfortable with. If this is your first time going to the ob/gyn and you are sexually active, or soon will be...its is necessary for you to begin your annual checkups. That is part of being a woman. Try not to feel awkward because Dr's have heard and seen it all before, really!!! It is important that you come to know how your body works and for you to know your body. Don't ever be embarrassed for wanting to take care and protect yourself. But I would suggest that you read up about your body, sex and birth control. There are many to choose from and you want the one that is best for you. I am attaching some links for you in hopes that you do some research.
Take care and be blessed.

You can certainly request a female gynecologist if that makes you more comfortable. They'll ask you if you are currently sexually active, what your sexual preference is, how many sexual partners you have had, if you could be pregnant, if you've been tested for any STDs... they'll want you to have a pap smear (it's not so bad, a little uncomfortable but no big deal). Depending on your medical history you might have to have blood tests done as well, and they might give you a pregnancy test. They'll also ask you if you smoke, if you have heart disease or a family history of heart disease. That's pretty much all there is to it. Good luck!

are you Jealous of an OB/GYN? Good lord, grow up man they ask the normal questions to asses health so that she dosen't bleed to death or something then they check to make sure the patient is healthy there are several things they do. In addition there are many different kinds of pills to take. I prefer the shot becuase you can come in once every three months. His questions and exams are primarily to asses health and pick the best route according to the desires of the patient. It is strictly medical and has nothing to do with anything else and a nurse is present during exams and it's cold and the speculum isn't fun so dont' think it's a big sex party when you go see the dr. When you get a prostate exam from the dr do we sit there and question you and ask if your gay or something? no. relax.

You would have to see a gynecologist to get a prescription for birth control pills. Anytime you visit the gyno, they ask questions concerning your menstrual cycle (regularity or irregularity of it, the last date of your cycle), whether or not you're having sex, and if you're having irregular discharge. You can ask older women friends or someone else to recommend a good female gyno, if it makes you feel comfortable. Also, you can ask to have a female nurse in the room while questions are being asked. But, you shouldn't worry too much; gynecologists have seen and heard everything, so it's second nature to hear differing responses to those questions.

if your accepted practitioner is superb, then they might try this for you. clarify to them why you're up there and why you opt to try this. Then ask them to telephone your prescription in to the drugstore you decide on it at, because you may no longer circulate get it in individual. Your different decision is to circulate to planned Parenthood. they generally supply low or no-fee exams to women folk. call the single on your section and ask them approximately their centers. whether you pay the finished fee, it is not high priced there. A each year examination is approximately $50 and the beginning administration pills are around $20 in line with month.

you will have a full exam of your breasts and pelvic--vaginal area. Don't worry the doctor has seen hundreds of them and it's just business as usual for him or her. A female might make you more comfortable with this. He will check to see if you have high blood pressure or family history of blood clots or breast cancer. The doctor is a pro at this. He will lead the conversation. Don't worry.
