If the doctor has done a biopsy and the result has returned as negative foe cancer, then there is no reason for chemotherapy. You should not put your body through the trauma. However, you and your doctor should discuss removal of the tumor. Things to consider are is it painful? Could it become cancerous sometime in the future (precancerous, still no need for chemo)? Where is it located in the breast? Most of the time, doctors will recommend removal of the tumor. A question to ask the doctor is this, " If I was your wife with this problem, what would you recommend her to do?" I had three calcifications and the doctor basically said that if I was his wife, he would recommend having them removed..So I did. It was day surgery, You can't see that scar and the healing took about a month, before the swelling was gone and there no pain at all. The bottom line is that you and your doctor need to discuss all of your options, but I personally would opt for surgery.

If you're certain it's not cancerous, surgery is preferable. The only reason to put up with the side effects of chemotherapy is the need to kill aggressive or disseminated cells that can't be surgically removed. Absent that need, the simple direct approach is better.

I suggest you to go for a surgery... I had benign fibro adenoma ... i had it removed by surgery... there will be no pain or scar as its a cosmetic surgery.... you have stay a day in the hospital... get going next day... U need to avoid running or jumping or laughing or lifting for a week as these actions might cause breast movements... Discuss with your doc and get it removed before it turns to malignant

if your DR told you it was benign, ask him/her what to do. No one has chemo unless they have cancer. Would you have a kidney removed if it were fine???
