Sorry, but not BUYing gas from this company or that company , as in a boycott just won't work. The only thing that can help is to REDUCE YOUR CONSUMPTION.
I've already done that. I've outlined my process in several of my questions & answers.
& I extended the time on one of my questions to get more ideas.
Besides I already only have to fill up once a month & I have a 50 cents per gallon off coupon for my next fill at Speedway ( owned by Marathon Ashland Petrolium)
So I am not complaining , nor do I blame oil company 'profits' for high fuel prices, and I actually DO something.

Wow, I must say I am very impressed with the answers on this question. Most "boycott gas station" questions on here get filled with people saying it would work but "the oil companies would stop it" or that "people just don't care enough to do something".
Like many people said, boycotting gas stations would have little effect on the large oil corporations, but could be catastrophic to the station owners! Gas stations are owned by people just like you and me, I have several friends who own gas stations as family businesses. Also, Exxon/Mobile doesn't just set the gas prices, they have a small influence but petroleum futures are traded and that is where the prices come from.
Like you said at the end of your question, "So you can continue complaining OR you can actually do something". I couldn't agree more, people should stop whining and actually do something, but boycotting gas stations isn't exactly what we need.

Demand just has to stop, not boy cotting company A and buying company B. Many retail stations are actually privately owned. We are paying for the high market price of oil and demand and global anxiety has mushroomed prices to the point where either the developing countries of China and India back off on buying up oil or are economy is going to mushroom into a recession. If you want to make a diffrence, find other energy sources and go around the oil machine if possible.

That wont work. good idea though. Did you know that half the price of gasoline you pay is actually taxes. that is right the government has huge taxes on the price of gas. And of cource the big oil companies are making money. People are buying gas like no other. More sales means they make more money. stop blaming things on the campanies. and start trying to look at the whole picture and actually solve the problem.

Exxon/Mobil dont set the price of gas, believe me if they did the price would be higher than it is now.
Oil is traded on the open market and OPEC controls production, prices are manipulated but Exxon/Mobil have very little control over the price of gasoline.

probable lol , it in basic terms relies upon which reason they provide us this time for it.formerly it substitute into because of the fact the cost of oil going up.Now their announcing cost of oil, is in basic terms a small result. Then it substitute into the hurricanes which i will comprehend. Then it substitute into for changing the blends from wintry climate to summer season and the opposite for later interior the twelve months. And on an internet site i substitute into examining they additionally mentioned that, opec substitute into purposly reducing production by applying like one million million barrels an afternoon.which might then force up call for.(so they're paying fewer human beings to artwork, yet getting tripple the earnings back it not greater.)that does no longer, make anybody prefer to improve call for.they additionally use the scarce tactic, the place they think of they are going to have a scarcity so they jack up costs greater anyhow.and each and each twelve months they save rasing it,and rasing it So from is seams like no one extremely is conscious, you will pay attention approximately one element then a week later, the cost drives up and theres no explination.the united stateshas a oil reserve with tens of millions and if not greater crammed with oil.and that they are contantly looking new places with loads of oil,in basic terms seams like opec in basic terms desires to make money. the government could some how, positioned a cap on the % they are able to make (opec, marathon,bp ect) as earnings, because of the fact its particularly plenty a monopoly.I dont see why giving them extra money because of the fact its particularly low, enables with this so called :scarcity".some think of it has to do something with pres. Bush, yet im not sure might desire to be a hazard, yet im unlikely there.yet i'm going to declare venezeula has oil yet because of the fact their president(Chavez) hates Bush,so they do no longer prefer to do any company.good success on looking out the genuine answer, i think of it would pi** alot of persons off, if we ever extremely found out.base line, someones getting prosperous on the expence of others,on a neccesity and different that can not handle to pay for it.Like i mentioned, OPEC and the bigger gas station companies are a monopoly in theirselfs.because of the fact we've not got the different source and that they have us by applying the balls, despite the fact that they say, is going.

It won't work and it will only hurt small individual gas station owners. I don't fill up at those places anyway. It's Maverick or Sams club for me.

That will never work, and is illogical.
The only people it will hurt is the gas station owners.
