Im too passionate about this moving subjet. Ive moved a lot. To keep it short I say start now, and use this as a time to "spring clean" Get rid of stuff you dont use or are saving "just in case" Also give your kids ready boxes and teach them to pack thier own soft easy things. Also SMALL boxes for heavy things such as books etc. Drink water, and take breakes while packing and especially on moving day. If your kids are young...have a friend watch them during the actual move. It will be less stressful and give you the chance to get work done quicker. Offer to pay for your friends trucks gas, and if you cant or they refuse then treat them to lunch! OK I'll stop! So much for short! Good luck and don't forget to breath and since this is your 4 th/5th time moving...be patient with your kids feelings reactions and emotions. This is hard on you but believe me...your kids will be effected 10 fold. Talk with them. Dont make promises. Good luck and God bless. Breathe!

DO NOT wait until the last minute to do ANYTHING. If you haven't started packing yet start now. Label every box and seal it up. If you've moved four times in a year then you haven't had time to accumulate too much extra stuff that you have to move so that is a good thing, although I know how easy it is to acquire 'new stuff'. Have everything organized to go out the door a couple of days ahead of time. Start your move early in the morning so you have time to get the last of the cleaning done before midnight when your so frazzled by the move that you just don't care anymore and just leave it undone. And by all means make one last tour through the house, including closets, attic and basement, before you leave to be sure you haven't left anything behind. GOOD LUCK. "They" say that moving is one of the most stressful things you can do in your life. Just be as organized as you possibly can and have all hands on deck on the day of the move. Once again GOOD LUCK.

Pack one room up at a time and label every box with contents. Move out one room at a time starting with the room farthest from the front door. Label each box with contents and room name. Clean the room completely before moving on to the next room. Continue to move one room at a time working your way to the room closest to the front door, and cleaning each room before moving on to the next. By doing this all boxes for a particular room will arrive together and make unpacking easier. No looking for the box of dishes that happened to end up in someones bedroom closet. By cleaning the rooms as you go you are more likely to come across forgotten items and you will not have to re-clean the floors from people tracking dirt back and forth. Good luck, moving is a pain.

Hire reputable professional movers. By the time you wait for friends to show up, pay for gas, drinks, food, and breakage you will be out of roughly the same amount of money anyway and you'll be tired and frustrated. Hire movers if you can afford it. Do your own packing and label the boxes by the rooms they should go to in your new home. Don't forget to use your luggage for clothes!

Start packing now. Use small boxes that are easy to carry and clearly label each one, first with the name of the room that it goes in, then with the contents. Try to clean out one room first, and then use it to stack all of your packed and labeled boxes. Have one person volunteer to give up his or her room and bunk with someone else for a few days so you can do this. It really helps. Don't leave packing for the day of the move. Pack all of your dishes and glassware first. Use paper plates for a few days. When packing dishes, wrap them individually and stand them up on their rims...never pack them flat. Pack cups/glasses upside down on their rims also. This will reduce breakage. Take clothes off hangers and pack all of them except what you can fit into a suitcase. Also keep things like daily medications or other necessities like eyeglasses in the suitcases, just like you're on vacation. Everyone can get by with a suitcase for a few days. If you're not going far, then pack items that can spill into plastic tubs (like under the sink stuff) and move these in the family car. You may wish to bring some drawer and door locks with you for the new apartment and have a screwdriver, hammer, and other basic tools handy and accessible. Tape electrical cords to the backs of items. use ziploc baggies that you can write on to identify collections of nuts, bolts, cords, and other hardware that gets disassembled. Get large rolls of plastic to wrap furniture. This stops chairs from springing open or drawers from sliding out. Use lots of blankets for padding and be sure to tie everything down really well. If you get everything packed, one room each day for several days, then camp out with only the big furniture left, your move day will go a lot smoother. One more tip...after labeling your boxes for a certain room, number them. 1 of 12, 2 of 12, etc. Put everyone to work now :)
