You make a very good point. Writing skills are unimaginably important; in that the words that we assemble and the manner they are strung together, form an indelible impression in the mind of the reader. I love the emotional power conveyed by well-chosen words. If this is our one chance to communicate, I would prefer that it be memorable, instead of a forgettable jumble or string of partially-formed ideas.

Having said that, the simple truth of these blurbs, without careful introspection, has a stark and real quality that is a rarity in a politically-correct world filled with bureaucrats and diplomats. To me, it is pure pleasure to read unapologetic, free-associating thinkers, poets and philosophers blasting away with their prose, however limited in grammatical skills it might be.

To answer your question, I see the errors as well; but it's all good. God bless you.

yes, there are many grammatical errors along with sentence structure but whats really painful is seeing the spelling errors as there is an option of checking spellings. maybe they are in a hurry to post their answers to be the first one or maybe they are just too laid back to make that little effort of pressing another key! sometimes its very difficult to even understand what a person really wants to know in the question he has framed!

I also observed that many yahoo answers are grammatically incorrect. If we want this site to be more educational and a good source of information we should therefore be aware of our grammars. Intelligent answer can be detected also on how their sentences are constructed that's why even spellings should be corrected as indicated above "Check Spelling."

Maybe this site is informal and it is more on how you expressed yourself. Since it is also international, there are those in other countries whose medium of instruction is not in English so they have hard time expressing their self in English. But just so they could participate and have fun so it doesn't matter on how they expressed their answers.
Have fun answering

I think answering a question is the purpose of Yahoo answers and not writing correct english. I will vote more for techinically correct aswers which clear the concepts rather than those which have correct english but are meaningless.

But ya, including a AJAX best spell checker wont be a bad idea :D

Sadly, few people respect our language by using the grammar and format of American English properly. People will tell you that it's out of convenience or respect to personal cultures but it is really just laziness and ignorance. Whether or not you were brought up in a home that spoke and proliferated improper speech, it is your prerogative to better yourself and improve yourself to better future generations. Because of our linguistic deficiencies, we give the appearance of a rapidly deteriorating and ignorant society. This stereotype comprises a large portion of the reason behind negative world opinion toward the United States.

Sometimes the grammar is so poor, I cannot understand the question. It shocks me every time I come to "Answers". Some of them do not even know what a question is.

Sometimes the kids use shortcut from their messaging and you can ascertain what they are asking. But some of them are so poor my 6 year old could teach them a thing or two.

The sentence is right in its expression. yet, gramatical correction does no longer impact speaking language, because speaking is in basic terms conveying the message. on your sentence, "he lives (in Osaka)" is a hassle-free modern-day demanding limitless is expressed and then in case you write a comma, and "for 3 years", it would desire to be proper. yet, the mentioned 3 years is however - final 3 years - questionable. in case you prefer to declare that he will stay in Osaka for 3 years - the finished which skill is replaced. So, there are 2 options so which you are able to re-write: one million. He has been dwelling in Osaka for the final 3 years. (nonetheless he's there, yet hazard is there to shift if mandatory) 2. For the final 3 years he lives in Osaka (nonetheless he's there and hazard to shift is extremely much less or no determination for any substitute) "He lives in Osaka for 3 years." is this sentence grammatically stunning?

You're not clever for pointing this out I hope you know. In fact, it's pretty much pointless to mention these things because most people aren't going to just learn grammar the instant you mention the problem.

It almost feels like there are a lot of foreigners asking questions who haven't quite grasped the English language.
