I checked the device and it states that it is working correctly. But I get an error message saying there is a problem with I/O. I tried troubleshooter but it didn't help. Can anyone help please? I don't know what to do?

Troubleshooters are useless. An I/O problem is a pretty fatal error. I doubt that without more information anybody can answer this question. It sounds like a hardware problem. The device may be "working correctly" but somehow the plug-and-play hasn't installed the device into a memory area. Click the "Start" button on the lower left corner of your screen and select "Control Panel." From there you could try the "add and remove hardware" option and see if your system can "find" the CD drive. If not, you could use the "add hardware" option to re-install it. You may need an installation disk that came with the CD drive or you may be able to get Windows (I'm assuming it's not a MAC) to find a suitable driver for it. Good luck!

If it is old enough it may have died just buy another from somewhere like Price Watch (Http://www.Pricewatch.com) and install it yourself or have a shop do it for you. Otherwise try reinstalling the burning software and or Windows and its related Driver. It could be a multitude of things. I would say most likely though you just need to get a new drive and swap it out.

It is possible that the IDE cable has become detached from the back of the CDRW. Carefully open the case, with the power off, and check to make sure the IDE cable is firmly and correctly attached.
