While Pakistan may be an American ally, the reason many Americans might think that you are terrorist is because of what happened on September 11, 2001.

Plus, there isn't a way to tell that a person is Pakistani just by looking at them or by hearing his/her last name. For example, when one sees the name O'Toole or McDonald we can tell that the name is of Irish descent. If we see the name Schulz or Schiffer, we can tell that the name is German.

The actions of a few individuals which occured on 9/11 caused Americans to not trust anyone who is middle eastern, or speaks English with an middle eastern "accent".

When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941, many Japanese - Americans were placed in camps. Unfortunately, there was a lot of distrust of any and all - not just Japanese - Americans - but Asian - Americans.

The same situation is being applied today, but without the use of the camps.

If you were in Pakistan and you saw a white person, what would your first thought be? An American who thinks I'm a terrorist and will try to kill me, right? Well, we're just simply doing the same thing, whenever we see someone from the middle east. Everyone starts watching closely, and if there is any sudden, unexpected movement done by the individual, s/he will have a huge can of KICK-BUTT opened on him/her.

We have kind of adopted a saying that the Jewish people who survived the concentration camps of World War II (and I'm not trying to "downplay" the holocaust at all) . . . NEVER FORGET, NEVER AGAIN!

So, until this situation is resolved, all I can suggest is to remind people that you are a native Pakistani, or of Pakistani descent, and you enjoy being in the United States and/or being an American.

It's a shame that people think that. Though Pakistan is at best an ally of convenience.

I think it's a larger symptom of issues people have with Islam (I don't know if you are Muslim, but radical Muslims are causing the problem). I'll give you an example, I've spent time in a Muslim country, had a great time, learned a lot, etc. What I don't get is for example, the massive protests over the Danish cartoons, when there's no massive demonstrations over the 9/11 attacks, which certainly defamed the Muslim religion more than a cartoon. I don't get that (I do understand it has to do with poverty and disenfranchisement and such), and I don't think most westerners do either.

It's unfortunate that you have been grouped in with others, when that may or may not be fair, I think the human brain works that way, in that it categorizes people in the most convenient fashion to help set boundries.

Good luck to you, I hope things for all of us improve.

There were no terrorists that were originally from Iraq nor Afghanistan. They were from Egypt and Saudi (if you're referring to the Sept. 11th attacks) and although the puppet Musharraf may be an ally of America, it is no secret that there are many people who think a lot less of the American government (not necessarily the American people, big difference). There are many madrassas in Pakistan that spend years manipulating the minds of young men, distorting what the Qur'an says, while they molest them, resulting in a traumatized, brainwashed, death machine who thinks killing their sister because she looked at a boy twice is restoring the honor of her family. But alas, perhaps I am just highlighting the negative elements of Pakistan. In an ironic twist, I would actually love to visit Pakistan, I have in-laws there.

I'm sorry. That sucks (that people think you're a terrorist). A lot of Americans are ignorant about what's really going on in the world. Many wrongly assume the entire Middle East is filled to the brim with terrorists. It'll pass.

Satan is blinding so many people to the truth that we are all one race (the human race) and that there are wonderful, loving people in every nation who are trying to treat all others with respect and consideration. It is sad but it is something we must all deal with for a while longer until God's government takes over the whole earth and brings peace to all mankind and destruction to all who do not want peace. I pray that you will find hope in knowing this and be able to forgive those who are blinded by ignorance.

This means you people dont know what a 'terrorist' is! And vis a vis, who told you that americans are not terorists? They attack all the islamic countries and even humiliate, rape and murder the innocent civilians! Huh...everything is confused!

Most Americans are stupid about geography and world politics.
It's something you'll have to deal with. Try to be nice and educate the brain dead amongst us.
