Wow, you must sleep like a rock to even consider the ideal that you wouldn't wake up. I am quite sure you will awaken in time...

It is possible for you to go into labor while you're sleeping. Don't worry though, you will wake up when the pains start getting stronger (and more than likely, you won't be sleeping well when it gets close to deliver time. You're so big and uncomfortable that you will be a very light sleeper by that time).

I thought the same thing. I "bugged" my doctor constantly about this same question. He would laugh and tell me not to worry, I'd wake up and I will wake up in plenty of time to make it to the hosptial. He was right.

I did go into labor when I had laid down to go to sleep. At first I didn't know what it was...it felt like my stomach was getting slightly hard, but when it did, I also felt like it was pushing up on my diaphram and making it harder for me to breath (it didn't help matters that I had a horrible cold too!). I rolled around on the bed trying to get into a comfortable position, and finally I gave up and just went into the living room to sit on the couch and see if I could fall asleep on that.

Soon, I gave up on sleeping all together and called my mother. She told me I was in labor and talked with me for awhile. Sure enough, we started timing the contractions and they were starting to come regular. Nothing really bad, but they were starting to get stronger and a little closer together.

If you have concerns, talk with your doc. That's what he/she is there for and what you pay them for!

Good luck, and sleep well while you can. Soon you won't be sleeping too good for a very long time! It's all worth it though.

Best wishes!

Yes! you can go into labor in your sleep! My mom woke up with her contractions 2 minutes apart! But trust me, you WILL wake up before the baby comes out!

Believe me, if you start your labor in your sleep you will wake up once the contractions start getting strong.

I've never been pregnant, being a man and all, but if I've learned anything from all the women in my life, it's that it would be impossible to sleep through labor pains.

Yes, you can. When you wake up you will probably just feel like you didn't get any sleep.
