We all hear horror stories about foster children being abused and neglected by would-be caregivers in persuit of free money. Understanding that good caring people are overshadowed by this abuse, would it not be safer for the children involved to return to an orphanidge type system where they can be safe? Or should there be more intese scrutiny of Foster parent applicants? or Both?

I'm seeing alot of comments about children being neglected in orphaiges. If there is more scrutiny of applicants there will undoubtedly be a backlog of needy children. we gotta put them somewhere!

Children were just as abused in the orphanage system--if not more so. We need to look more closely at the care givers BEFORE we send them anyone elses children.
I believe that while there are some very wonderful foster parents, there are more than enough out there who shouldn't have their own children! Case in point--I personally know of a child who was removed from his parents because they grounded him for being out till 3 AM. The child came home--when the police brought him home--with cuts and bruises from hiding and goofing with his friends, and blamed the marks on the parents. The home he was placed in had a meth lab in the basement, the caseworker's daughter was their friend, they all got drunk together regularly and the child wasn't returned to the parents until they called the police to verify that the "foster parents" had left the child at the house alone for over 24 hours!

Some foster care systems are really good. They treat the kids like humans and give them love and support.
Other systems abuse the kids and treat them worse than dogs.
Stricter laws and applicants should be inforced for the system and those who want to be foster parents.
Many ppl do it for money and hurt the kids; other ppl genuinly want to help the kids.
It's a bad situation 50/50% of the time. Should it be outlawed? No, for the children who are getting help - good for them. If there wasn't a system, those who do get help, won't get help and they'll be even more who are abused by being homeless.

No for hadicapped children and medically fragile children we have a treatment foster care system. That seems to work really well because there is screening and tons of training. Those parents are excellent and often have their own children. If you want to see how great orphanges are working look at Russia for an example of kids wrecked from neglect. How about adopting faster and screening foster care more? Also more training. Orphanges are not the way to go.

In spite of the horror stories that we are exposed to, I don't believe the majority of foster care parents are monsters. There are thousands of these families that are loving and caring and even adopt the children.Orphanages are institutions that tend not to foster loving and caring environments.Have a great day.

There additionally are cases of bio mum and dad lieing and announcing their isn't any family individuals because of the fact they're embarrassed and that they think of they are going to regain custody formerly the family individuals finds out. CPS does no longer have the aspects to look and coach if their is or isn't family individuals. They take you at your observe once you're saying no one is able to look after the toddler. additionally with rules they could save the toddler in state except adopting the toddler so if grand ma is one state over she will't save the toddler ETA additionally their are many cases family individuals that for one reason or yet another does no longer prefer to take the youngsters.
