What's the story behind Harper Lee?

I know there is a story behind the author of "To Kill a Mockingbird" and the publishing company....I just can't remember. Can anyone help me jog this old memory?

There's a theory that Capote actually wrote the book. I don't think that's true, but it is odd that it's the only novel she ever wrote-beginners luck?
