Both teams got a very good deal.

Memphis got back Swift who did so good for them and Gay, who is a fantastic rookie. The Rockets got the missing piece they need in their lineup, so it wasnt a bad trade on either side. though eventually Memphis will win as Battier is in his mid 30's while Swift and Gay are young.

Are you kidding me? This is one of the best deals that the Rockets have ever made. Battier is a 6'8 swing man. He can shoot it like a two guard, and, rebound like a forward. As a matter of fact he averaged a little over 10points, and, 5 rebounds last year. (He didn't average 15pts per game last year) He shoots a tad under 40% from the 3 pt arch, and, he is a above average defender. As good a Mikie James played last year for the Toronto, I recall a game where Battier held him to 18 points and put up 33 against him and his team, grabbing 7 boards in the same game. Battier possesses all of the fundamentals, and, is a complete NBA caliber player, unlike the unproven Gay. Shane is very versatile and is a fine complimentary player who can help the Rockets in many ways. HOW many ways did Stro help the Rockets, especially when they needed a shot in the arm? The Rockets are reloaded and if they can stay healthy, will contend for another title this year. Guys like Shane, Kirk Snyder, rookie pick Steve Novak, and, Chuck Hayes are guys to watch this year--in addition to the Dynamic Duo, McGrady and Yao.

yah, stromile grow to affix it. it is not a foul commerce for the millionth time. The Rockets are approximately triumphing NOW. Shane battier is an elite defender and a great all around, blue-collar, bust your *** form of basketball participant. Rudy gay is the right opposite. Rudy gay is this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days's Stromile speedy/Darius Miles. If Rockets get Mike James, it grow to be all nicely worth it. (next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days's draft is thicker newayz...*crossing hands on Rockets getting Kevin Durant*)

It is too early to tell. But i think the rockets got it better.Swift always seemed too scared and rarely showed up in games when needed. Rudy Gay was the same way. In Connecticut, he dissapeared in big games and UCONN lost. Battier had a good college carreer with Coach K and he posted 15 points per game last year. He is the defender and scorer the Rockets really needed. He will cover the Kobes and the Lebrons.

though time will tell the answer. my opinion is, it is not a bad trade for houston.
houston need battier's type of player to be kinda bodyguard for their stars (yao and tmac). 2 seasons ago, sura was the bodyguard. he didn't scare to go up against anybody. swift is athletic, yes. but he is not yet proven as a fierce competitor who doesn't mind doing all the dirty things.hopefully houston can do something this season. at least, get through a playoff series.
