Ebay is a nice way to see how good your product survives, how good your marketing skills are, and how your organizational skills cope with running a business. There are very little start up costs, even compared to today's cheap webdesigns and web hosting. Basically, if you cant sell on Ebay, save the money you would waste on a website. It isnt any easier to market your product without all of Ebays current users.

I don't know much about either Ebay or starting a website...but maybe if you sold a few things on Ebay for say like a month or 2, and along with those things you throw in an ad for you business under the description. That way you get a kick start to your website. Hope that helps.

You should get your own website done and forget eBay because you can start small and become big and you wont have to give anyone a percentage and you can always say its yours look at carols daughter she did in her Brooklyn kitchen and know Jada Pinkett Smith is the face of her product in less than 3 years so go for it GOOD LUCK.

Hands down...get your own website. It'll cost you around $200 if you really search. And you can get a business ID number for this in which you can write off your taxes...you will get a tax break bigtime if you start your own website business. Those folks on EBay can't be trusted---stealing your money--merchandise arriving broken, etc...headache..

EBay has a massive built-in potential audience. Your own website would not have a 1000th of the visitors to start with.
