It basically means, “Don't insult my intelligence."
An example: Someone tells you that Bush and Clinton are cousins. Well, you know it is simply not true. You can look that someone in the eyes and say, "Oh please!!! Give me a break."

This kind of outcry happens when the deep expectation is found to be not fulfilled !
And the struggle to patch up yields counter productive results.
A mental state where a person is seeking a release from his own bondage to these expectations.
Somebody who is able to appreciate this, can help by just being with such a person, and sharing his feelings.
