When you have loved the Sabres as long as I have you get used to something going wrong right before you reach the top of the mountain.

It will happen again. We will be on the brink and luck will screw us once again.

Looks like a great year for the Sabres. It won't be as surprising this year though as it was last year. The off season did hurt, McKee, Grier, and Dumont will be sorely missed but the core of the team is back. Look for Miller to be signed and for a whopper of a salary increase over his 500K last year. It's not all doom and gloom though. The addition of Spacek will help fill the whole vacated by McKee and signing Afinagenov, Pominville, Gaustad and other key young players for the longer term contracts should help. Briere will be back at least this year too. Unless Reiger goes crazy and trades everyone away they should be able to come close to last year's success. Many teams in the league had to shuffle around players even with the increased cap. I think the Sabres will make the playoffs no problem and as long as everyone pulls their weight and we remain injury free this playoff season we should make it. The only thing I am worried about is looking foolish with the new "Slug" uniforms. The team will do great regardless.

Losing Dumount(own their own choice mind you), haven't signed Miller, salary shooting up. It's months too early to tell but it doesn't look like it. They'll still a good team this year though.

Ps. I'm not a Sabers, for the record.
