I want to wear a ballroom type dress with a mascarade mask this halloween.... I got a place for the mask..... I just need the dress or a great idea.

If you sew there are some so so patterns out there. They aren't exactly correct, but they will do for a party etc. You can also check on e-bay, but some of them are the real deal or reenactment clothing. That can get pretty pricey. Also, if you sew you can google reenactment clothing or patterns for women and whatever year you want. Some of the historical clothiers sell patterns. Hope that helped

Try some of the thrift stores, new to you or second time around.
I've seen ballroom dresses in some of them. Some cities also have vintage clothing stores. Try looking in the yellow pages.

Try a performing arts store or a costume store. You can also try rentals. Look in the phonebook. I'm in Nashville and I know of 2 places that would probably have something you're looking for. Your city may, too.

You can always rent one from a costume company, but if you are creative you can find a costume history book at your local library and try to create one that you could keep for future costume occasions.
