Fencing is sold by the linear foot and the per foot price varies dramitically based on style, quality, finish, access for equipment, accessories such as gates, ground type, and topography. Lowe's and Home Depot sell fencing. Take the dimensions of your yard and have them estimate a cost for materials. You can also get free estimates from fence companies. They can be found in the Yellow Pages.

Good luck with your search.

First, if you plan to use wood, it needs to be treated wood, otherwise it'll rot and deteriorate in about 4 - 5 years, and if you use wooden posts, it's an invitation to termite city. Set the posts in concrete to avoid that.

To compute the costs, all you need to do is measure the lenght of the fence, multiply that by the height to get the number of square feet. If you use 1" x 6" material for the fence it'll take 2 boards per foot, but remember 1" x 6" boards are not a full 6" in width, so they'll be a gap between each board. If you don't want gaps, it'll take a few more boards. If one board cost $3 and the fence is 100' long, that means you'll need 2 boards per foot, or 2 x 100 x 3 for a cost of $600. That does not include posts, nails, screws, or anything else.
