OH GOD! Yes, I live in the city so I am always meeting new people. Yes, a weirdo followed me with his car while I was walking to my job. I simply told him to get the hell away from me and that I am not interested. He had the nerve to ask me for my number so that he can pick me up from work. I told him that if he doesn't get away within the next minute I will call the police. (The police station was actually around the corner) He took the hint. I am so used to it now that I have become a professional at it.

This hasn't happened to me, but I have been approached by some weirdos, haha. What I would do is either take out my pepper spray and tell them 2 back off or run home, call the police, and get a restraining order.

I work at a hospital and have made the occational trip down to the mental health unit. Ive had a few patients try to follow me out when I left the unit. I, as calmly as possible, alerted the nursing staff and quickly left the unit once nursing had the patient distracted.

The person being followed must seek a VPO, Victim's Protective Order, to try to protect self. As soon as the person realizes the person is stalking him/her again, call the police and let them find them not following the VPO. Then the stalker can be arrested, but he must be found within the boundaries specified on the VPO. Of course, every state may have their own rules so call your local police department and ask them how to get a VPO, or whatever they call it. In addition to getting a VPO, be more careful than usual about being out alone; be conscious of your environment and who's around; before you go in your house, make sure nobody is close enough to shove you in; make sure all your doors and windows are locked; all drapes pulled all the time; keep a camera handy to take the person's picture if he/she comes within your boundaries and you can get it safely; if you can afford it, get a video camera at your door to monitor it 24/7; if you drive a car, prior to getting in your vehicle, check under your car to make sure nobody is hiding there; check the back seat of your car; always keep your car door locked and windows rolled up; never leave your doors open when entering but close immediately. If you are old enough for your state, consider buying a gun, taking lessons to use it, and get licensed to carry it. If you don't have a dog, a black lab is a great protector for a person. I adore mine and he would never allow anybody to hurt me. Also get call trace on your phone line so if he/she calls, you can alert the phone company to trace the call. Keep track of what he does in a journal. When you go to court, you will already have evidence and will be easier on you. Don't be afraid to call the police if your suspect any behavior on his/her part. Stand up for yourself and refuse to allow anybody to intrude in your life.

What's your definition of a weirdo? If by someone who just wears something out of style, yes I had that experience. I just continued walking. When I reached my destination and that person still followed. I just asked what he/she needs. TUrned out the person was a messenger for another company :-)

Yes, I started talking to a lizzard sitting next to me, and this person thought I was weird and stopped following me. This was at a hospital. He was a beggar, begging for smokes and money.
