I am an Australian in Canada and my travel insurance ran out 7 days ago. My insurer will not extend my policy as it has been more than 48hrs since it lapsed, and they won't issue a new policy because I have already left the country. Does anyone know of an insurance company that will offer cover after you have already left home?

At least for me... my health insurance will cover emergencies when I'm out of the country. I'm American though, I'm not sure about for others. Not sure if you can purchase another travel insurance policy though.
