Well first, you must understand what an average thug is... and I would say that the average thug is someone who is not a law abiding person, someone who causes more harm than good. So if you are "not your average thug" you would be a good person. People would have thought of you in a negative way in the past but you have changed, so you are not the average thug.

To me it would be someone who is either more, or less, sophisticated than the typical tough guy, who might ride a motorcyle...or might rob a bank.
Where did you hear this "not your AVERAGE thug" ? Ouch, discrimination, name-calling, judging...
