I'm having difficulty deciding where to purchase body parts for my son's car. For instance, I can find a front left fender for about $90 at several online auto parts sites, or for about $35 at just as many other sites. What's the difference? Why should I pay the extra? And how do I track down the doors at salvage yards (or do I have another option)?

Thanks!!!

sometimes the cheapy ones will be missing mounting brackets or somthing requiring welding so be sure to acertain that ... it could be the difference between an oem part and an aftermarket part also ... its hard to say if the aftermarket piece is going to look right unless you talk to someone thats used it before like an autobody repair shop. I would try to get an oem part# myself regardless of price. The salvage yards ive dealt with have all been the local ... "walk in with ur own tools and remove it urself" places ... these are the best and you can be sure to get exactly the model and design of the original .... doing a mail order from a salvage yard is iffy buisness ... the people in those places generally have the iq of a 3 year old imo... i would be afraid to do that.

Can try Ebay also. good luck. I'd go with the $35 fenders. Since your son, might be wrecking the car again. If he did in the first place. Sorry to hear that.

If you mean auto wrecking yard, prices vary greatly. You might want to check "aftermarket" parts, also.
