as an irish person who now lives in california, i can say that americans are very racist. even though they portray them selfs as a "free country" its not!. i work with alot of men and everything comes down to race, you can almost tell who is going to start trouble just by the way they dress and talk.

i hate to say it but i do profile people, but thats for my own safety in work. on a whole yes folks here in the usa are very racist espeically towards their own kind!.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics lists many thousands of black and Hispanic businesses and more white people than black receive welfare. But the idea that we don't want to work persist. You don't have to ask the question just read the answers and questions on Yahoo under Society and Culture and other categories to see racism in action. On this page someone is judging the black race by a community he/she lives in.Where crime is high, the educational system is poor and the jobless rate is high. Bill Gates just announced an initiative to improve the schools in the inner city which don't hold a candle to those in white communities 50 years after Brown vs. the Board of Education which was supposed to eliminate unequal education. I've seen such ridiculous statements as blacks want something for nothing. Watch the "judge" programs and you'll see people of all races want something for nothing. Ebony magazine did a story on 121 successful entrepreneurs and influential black CEO' and politicians. I have never seen it mentioned here. We are all lumped into one group and labeled. And I've seen racist comments about Jews, Asians and Hispanics. Racist attitudes and practices are displayed by all people.

Well the FBI has a special "hate crimes" division the problem has gotten so bad. Last month I read about a black boy that was set on fire by a group (and it's always a "group" of cowards) of white boys. The NAACP which handles discrimination complaints from blacks, Hispanics and Asians about education, jobs and housing is busy and the anti-defamation league is not in existence for nothing. Just read the comments on Yahoo Answer. That should answer the question. There are a lot more anti-black statements than anti-white. There are some blacks that dislike whites but they don't have the power to affect their destiny.

The rules on the piece of paper can and do control the the practices of the public on the whole. Don't pretend that the rules don't matter. Don't pretend that the rules haven't changed anything. And don't pretend that there are only 2 choices: totally racist or not racist at all.

Very. But it's not like other countries are much better. In Europe they throw bananas at black soccer players. In South Africa, blacks kill white farmers. All over Africa and the Middle East there are ethnic wars that kill thousands. The world is a racist place and America is a part of it.

America has come a long long way but racism is a world wide phenomenon. The human race is still in it's infancy on the evolutionary latter. Eventually the world will be depopulated by war, famine, disease, and natural disasters. Our surviving offspring will become more and more civil as a means of survival. By the way I am black and I hate white people. Except my white friends, and the whites who come to see me play. Oh yeah and all my white girlfriends I don't hate them. Come to think of it I just hate Hispanics. Except my hispanic friends....

i've tried to not be racist, but since i moved to a primarily black area (detroit) almost 10 years ago, those black people have tought me that, in MOST cases, (i know there are some out there who are very good people) people who are racist are right. i've seen that with black people crime is way higher. i've seen that the vast majority of them are very rude and disrespectful. and they seem to very much look down on whites and try to blame whites for all of their problems regardless of if they have any reason to or not. makes it hard to not start developing racist attitudes towards them.
