It is definitely worth less. Inflation over time causes individual sums to be worth less. Basically you can buy less stuff with a dollar now than you could 20 years ago.

Money in the amount of 183.03 in today's U. S. dollars would be needed to buy what $100 (U. S.) did in 1986. So our "almighty" dollar is rather pitiful and puny compared to twenty years ago.

No 20 years ago I could get 100 pieces of candy with that now I can only get four or five of the same type of candy.

Probably similar from a comperative stance, but the exchange rate is lower so the US dollar is not as strong as it has been and usually is.
