In a room w/ 35 men,80% of the occupants are women. How many women are in the room?

N = number of people in the room
N * 0.2 = 35
N = 35 / 0.2 = 175 persons in the room
175 X 0.8 = 140 women

Well, it depends what you mean by men. In some contexts men can just mean members of the human race, so 80% of 35 is 28. In others, men and women are different, so 100-80= 20% of the occupants are men; and as 20% == 35, 100% == 175

Let x = number of women

therefore, the total number of people is
x + 35


Since 80% of this is women, then

Therefore, there are 140 women in the room.

Since 80% of the occupants of the room is women, the remaining 20% are men. Since 20% of the occupants are 35 people, 80% of the occupants are 35 x 4 = 140 women.
