Yes they will do great! I also grow herbs such as oregano and basil in containers and leaf lettuce and green onions and radishes. All do great. Just remember to water them daily.

In my experience, tomatoes don't really like being in containers. They need lots of root room and cooler temps, above gound prohibits both. But the good news is, peppers actually do better in containers. I have about 6 or 8 varieties of hot peppers growing in containers as we speak, all of which are quite happy and producing well. The trick is, anything in a container only gets the nutrients that you provide...so fertilizing with Miracle Grow once or twice a month is essential. Also, they need more water since they dry out so much faster being above ground. So, grow your peppers in containers, feed and water them without fail, and they will do fine. If you want tomatoes, try a variety that fruits on a compact plant...I don't have a variety name right now, but I'm sure if you search the web, you will find a dwarf variety does exsist. That would be your best bet.

They will do GREAT in containers ..
they have plants now, that are specifically " Designed " for containers
Any peppers will do well , in full sun .. ( water them more ...all plants tend to dry out in containers ..)
Tomatoes .. They have some that are called "Tiny Tim " , I think ...
the plants are very short , and produce smaller tomatoes ( about the
size of hen's eggs ... Go to They have TONS of choices ..
If you like cucumbers , you cabn do them also .. There a type
called Bush Champion ...It dosen't really make long vines , only 2 - 3 feet long... good Cukes, and plenty ... I grow them all the time now , in 5 gallon pails... I plant a few pots , a week or two apart , as cukes tend to make fruit , then peter out ... splitting up the planting makes a continous supply...( check Burpee seeds for these )
.. stick a couple basil plants in with the tomatoes, and you have the start of good spaghetti sauce ...lol
Good Luck !

I have grown all 3 in containers, some in together in the same container. Be sure to give them lots of sun and water. Put a little sugar in before you plant the tomatoes and cut match heads off and plant under the peppers. If you want the peppers to be hot, hot, hot, let them wilt a little before you water them.

Any plant will! just make sure the dirt you put in there is high quality, and long lasting. I'd suggest a good dirt with a mix of compost, itll give you the best flavor from your plants, but dont worry if you want to still add fertilizer, you can, and most likely will need to. Make sure you put them in big pots if you want big plants and fruit, at least 8" pots each plant. and make sure they are well drained (like almost any other plant) with pebbles or broken shards of ceramic pots in the bottom.

Yes they will if you can plant them in a wide pot so that roots are allowed to grow therefore your plant will be healthy and growing. However , it depends if you are going to provide ample sunlight ( daily) and fertiliser ( fortnightly) and spraying of pesticide as and when required .Then again spraying of pesticide will not allow u consume the tomatoes etc .So you should net up the surronding area so that pest will not go thru to destry you plants .

yes they will but you will have to keep them watered. In case of the tomatoes-make sure you stake them. My herbs and spices love containers, I have mint going crazy, flopping over and out of a huge container. I love it, you will too. Go for it.
And God bless you and your husband and thank you for your service to our country.
