I might be moving there in the future and have been hearing things about bible thumpers, racists and white trash. It's kinda scaring me and would like to hear and honest answer about the people I might be living in the same community.

I live in Springfield. Been here for 5 years. Sure, there's trash and unsavory elements but overall I think people are nice around here. There are wanna-be thugs but it's nothing compared to STL or KC. It's a HUGE Assembly of God town, we have Evangel University and 2 or 3 other bible colleges in town. I don't think racism is all that big here. There are a lot of interacial couples and interacial children, more than I've seen in other towns in the midwest.

Well, for better or for worse, I think it is going to be just another town in the USA. If you choose to find a happy home, you will. If you expect the worst, that's what you'll find. People almost always get what they seek. Good Luck !
