First...about 20 hours from start to finish. I'd say the hard part lasted about 7 hours, which was when they started the nasty pitocin drip. Pushing only lasted 12 minutes though, which is pretty good for an 8lb 2oz baby and a first time mom.
Second...hard labour for about 5 hours. Pushing time less than a minute.
I think the length of your labours depends a lot more on your luck and your genetics than your physical fitness. I know plenty of fit people who had not-so-quick labours. Regardless of how long you end up labouring for, I think prep is the best way to get through it. I had both babies med-free, and I think having read the Bradley Method book over and over helped me to stay as relaxed as possible. It helped me understand what was going on with my body every step of the way, and great ways to deal with it. I came a bit unglued the first time after the interventions and with the complications, but the second time I was in control all the way and it was a great birth...well, except for the pain part. :-P

Well my labor started at 8 am when they broke my water and lasted until almost 6 pm. So 10 hours, this was my first delivery.

I made sure that I would be in good shape going into labor, because I didn't want to have any of those horror story births (12, 24, 36 HOURS of hard labor). I exercised right up to my delivery date. Mostly crunchs in the last month. My water broke at 6 a.m., and I arrived at the hospital at 8. The head nurse in the delivery room told me "I'm sorry, dear, but you're going to be here for at least another 12 hours" after I asked her to check me, because I was beginning to get bearing down pains. My only reaction was F YOU! I refused to react to any of the subsequent contractions. I just imagined myself laying on a hot beach in the sun, and relaxing in the warmth. Until I was rudely brought back to my labor bed by a HUGE bearing down pain that I couldn't ignore...and it didn't let up. I sent my husband to find some other nurse to check me, and she went running for the doctor and the other nurses, because I was ready to give birth NOW! I gave birth at 9:15 a.m..

my first was 45 minutes and only 2 pushes, my second was about an hour and a half and 3 pushes, and my third was 4 hours of hard labor. I guess I got pretty lucky with all of mine.

i slept through the first one... i awoke at 7pm and thought... "i NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL NOW" i'm thankful that i only lived 30 minutes from the hospital BECAUSE i had him JUST inside the emergency room door!
my other 3 kids were induced labors because the doctor didn't want to take the chance of me delivering in my sleep, or on the road... second child was 4 hours, third child was 2 hours, fourth child (my only girl) was 9 hours... YEP, 9 hours!
