I always said I wasn't going to be one of those "gross" moms who saves their babies umbillical cord, but I haven't had the heart to throw it away.. figured i'd put it in her memory box!

lol
1st baby saved it (however, have since threw it away)
2nd baby kept the clippy thing the hospital put on it
3rd baby - are you kidding? No way. lol she probably won't have much in terms of saving stuff. I'm kinda "over" that. I just save a few items, but not bodily parts (no teeth when it happens either).

Absolutely not! I love my daughter but it gave me the "willies". And it fell off in the middle of the night into my shirt!

I'm all for saving teeth and a lock of hair, but somehow that was kind of gross to me. My mother tried to save my brother circumcision ring (from 73). Yucko!

Yeah I kept my daughter's. It's in a little sack tucked in her baby book. My parents didn't do that kind of thing for me and now I feel empty about what I was like as an infant. I want my baby to have something physical to hold on to.

Yup. My husband's mother kept his, and so he was insistant on keeping our son's. It's in an air-tight (I think) plasic baggie in the keepsake box. I guess it's like keeping a lock of hair, and so long as it doesn't get moisture it doesn't rot or anything.

no cause i was affraid it would smell once it started to rot. it is up to you and you can keep it but it needs to be kept in an air tight container of some kind.

Absolutely! Took six weeks -- no joke -- for the silly thing to fall off, so I took it as a sign he might want to keep it. :)
