This is a really specific question to teens that live in CT, My friend is taking her driver's test in Hamden and would like to know if anyone can describe the area or the test in that area, or if anyone has any tips about passing the driving portion of a driver's test in general.

Sorry, took mine in Wethersfield 22 years ago. Hamden isn't bad as cities go although you're near the New Haven border. Avoid testing near lunchtime because the streets get very congested. Parallel parking is what trips most people up but I'm not sure they test for that any more. Stopping for lights is a must, and they may be picky about stopping at the white line even though in CT it's usually a ridiculous distance from the light.

Don't worry about bike lanes because they basically don't exist in CT, but do watch out for bikes - there are college kids nearby and without a bike lane they may want to share a lane with you. Hitting anything or anyone is a guaranteed fail.
