It's quite possible. Without knowing how far along you are...it's hard to say "for sure." If the Dr. did a vaginal exam yesterday, that could have started the labor process. If your cramping is this close together and isn't going away when you lay down or walk about, then it does sound like you're in labor. Call your Dr's office # or the hospital you plan on delivering in and speak to the nurses on duty in labor & delivery. Best of luck!!!

Usually, contractions will start off slowly and then get closer togther. Is your back pain constant, or does it change with position? If it is either of these, it is more likely that your baby is pushing against new stuff, either because he "dropped" (lightening) if you are late in pregnancy, or because s/he changed positions.

If it doesn't go away, or gets worse, call your dr right away (always better safe than sorry!). Even if it is labor, the average first labor lasts 14 hours.

Good luck!

it might be that the baby has just dropped down into your pelvis.. i am 8 1/2 months along, and my baby started dropping almost 2 weeks ago and i felt like i needed to pee even after i just went. is the pain in your back high or low? if it's near the middle, it could be your kidneys and a kidney stone. real labor will have pains in the front top of your utereus and wrap around to your back.. also, you should be able to count your contractions.

Yep. I started back labor at 2am one morning and then had my baby at 1:20pm that very same day. The back pains could be a sign of your contractions starting and your cervix dialating.
