What defense should I use against a running attack? My son plays with Nebraska and has an excellent running game that I just cannot stop. Who can tell me what the best defense formation is to stop the run?

It's in the game!

Well it depends on the quality of your linebackers. I pretty much stop any run attack ( Maybe its because Im a former LB and RB myself) But I use the 5-2 a lot and shift the line depending on which elbow the FB has up (EA Sports videogame trick). This can leave you open for PA passes deep but if you have quality players in the secondary or if you play bump and run it reduces chances of a homerun throw.

Anything with a 4 man line or 2 linebackers. This will allow you to play seven men in the box and force the opponent to match you up by bringing in tight ends to try and contain blitzing linebackers and safeties. Examples are 4-4, 5-2, the "46" and etc.

Use the 3-4 defense and keep a spy to look out for the QB scramble. Use the blitz, but not to much. Pinch the secondary down tight, and spread out your 3 down lineman... your son wont no what hit him !!!

4-4 46 Bear or 4-4 mad robber are good ones to use. Also any 5-2 defense is also good.
