The rich will get scared and make themselves invisible. They'll keep quiet and maybe move off shore.

There will be some grand revolution where the poor rise up and get the crap beaten out of them by the rich. Seriously though the world goes in cycles as does economics. It will not always be so wide. All it takes is a change in government and less tax cuts for the rich and voila; things will be better for the poor.

well the french started a revolution,in Africa they sorta do the something,i would say the poor will eventually have nothing to loose and will go after the rich, the economy could fail and the rich will fall with it feeling no sorrow from the poor.the funny thing rich people are so involved with their status that they do not believe this will ever happen and look down at the poor.ONE DAY THE RICH SHALL FALL AND THE POOR WILL RISE,but will they know what to do then

How can the gap widen...it exists and has existed since we were living in caves...some people have things, others don't. We can't all be equal, it hasn't worked before though it seems to be an ideal. Even communist countries slowly resort to capitalism because the hard workers don't want to carry the loafers.

The gap may bring political instability. Government may take measures to give some relief to poor people of society.

The cost of goods and services will also increase so people of middle to low class will have to cut corners and file for more government assistance. The gap will continue to get worse and there is nothing we can do about it.

well... technically, we vote on the president/congress... so the poor would get motivated enough to vote in someone that represents their beliefs/interests
if that didn't work for whatever reason... revolution is always a last resort...

Anarchy, rebellion, and worse. Happened frequently throughout history and it'll happen again. It's not a question of "if" but "when".
