in a previous question i asked about special diets for kids with autism someone brought CranioSacral Therapy. What is this? I have never heard of it before. None of my sons doctors have ever mentioned this as an option before.

To be a bit more specific, CranioSacral therapy balances the cerebro-spinal fluid in the brain... this helps to balance the brain function & often balances body function & tight muscles too.

I am a chiropractor who has taken the first level of craniosacral therapy (there are at least 3-4 levels of training in this class work).
You may also want to try chiropractic for your child... not all chiropractors work with children, but many do.

Your doctor may not be familiar w/ cranio-sacral, but many physical therapists are. I worked with a severely injured child who had a brain injury from a car accident- her neurologist had no problem with me doing crainal work on her & gentle chiropractic treatment.

This is a wonderful therapy that is similar to acupressure(no needles). A therapist that most likely has been also trained in Massage therapy does the technique by sitting next to you while you lay face up on a comfortable table. They will place their hands behind your head and hold certain positions with their hands , that will increase circulation and cerebral spinal fluid to the brain. It also will do no harm to your son, it will only help , in the least it will do it relax him. The modality will help to balance energies . It would be well worth your time and his to give this at least one try.

It is an adjustment to the spine. It is good for autism. I have also had excellent results using Biofeedback on my son who has Aspergers Autism. We have fewer meltdowns, he's calmer, less argumentative and all around easier to handle.

I know someone who uses this therapy every day with her son, and he does wonderfully with it. You can be trained to do it yourself, as she was. Here is a site I found that you can learn from home how to do it.
