Why would I think that? I think they are heros because they CHOSE to have a very dangerous job just to save lives. They risk their own lives everyday to do something most people would never do. In my book what makes someone a hero is when they are scared, yet they do what needs to be done anyway. That's what a firefighter is. My brother is a volunteer firefighter and the stories he has told me make me believe he is one. He not only puts out fires but he also shows up at wrecks to help save people in time before the ambulance even gets their. If you think they are not, one day, and I hope it never happens, you might need their ehlp one day and you will then know for sure that they are. God bless the firefighters!

Well if you say that, then you will have to say that anyone we call heros is wrong. Firefighters risk their lives to save others.. in my book that is a sort of hero. However, some may look at it as that is the job they chose and they are getting paid for it.
If you say firefighters are not heros, then neither are military, law enforcement, etc.

NO, more real-life heros need to be acknowledged. I think teachers with a strong influence on their students and police officers are sometimes heros too. Firefighters are especially, because they even fit the traditional sense of the word as someone who risks their own life to save others.

I believe that firefighters are heros! They risk their lives to save other people, animals, and homes. Without them who would save your home from burning down or pull a child out of a burning vehicle?

They have the guts to do what the average human being isn't even capable of . They are a different breed . True heroes , and truly above all professions ( other than our American military ) .

Not at all.
When my daughter was 11 years old and hemorrhaging, the firefighters were my angels in blue at 4am.
They give of themselves constantly to keep the rest of us safe and think nothing of risking their lives for us and our property.

A friend of mine died working as a fire fighter. He went into a building that was on fire and was killed when a tank of propane lying around sailed into him like a rocket. Anyone who routinely risks his/her lives for others qualifies as a hero. Certainly not some overpaid professional athletes that seem to think they deserve that title.

Anyone who is willing to walk into a collapsed building, a burning building, go into burning forests, pull people from floods, pull people from vehicles on the verge of explosion etc. etc. just to save our sorry lives is indeed, a hero.

Not at all they can save lives.... but they did not save my house! I think the lil fire houses need more training and they need a faster responce time.
