The only thing that Black is described as drinking is Butterbeer (in "Order of the Phoenix"), which Harry and co. (aged 13) were sold in the Hog's Head in their third year ("Prisoner of Azkaban").

So either Butterbeer is non-alcoholic, or wizards have different licensing laws...

Couldn't blame him if he was one, though, could you? He had a pretty rotten life, all things considered. I mean, let's just recap: growing up in No.12 Grimmauld Place, rejecting/rejected by his parents, friends betrayed and murdered, wrongly convicted of that betrayal and banged up in Azkaban with the Dementors for 12 years, living in a cave and eating rats for a year, trapped once again (albeit with the best intentions) in his old home—right up until the point when his ignorant godson got him killed. What a bummer, eh?

He didn't have much time to drink the days away. While at school I bet he drank a lot of butterbeer, but that doesn't have much alcohol. Then he had like a couple of years to get drunk, which he could have done, because his family was horrible and he had inherited a lot of money. But then he went to jail, then escaped and had to hide (he couldn't buy alcohol because he was wanted, Harry and his friends gave him food, which Sirius used to get in his animagus form) and then... you know, book five. But I think that he needed those drinks! I mean, what a crappy life he had...! Cheers!

I didn't get that vibe from Sirius, why? Hagrid is an alcoholic, at least that's the character you see drunk the most in the Harry Potter series

I don't think so. She never mentions it in the book. But there does seem to be a lot of alcohol mentioned...

I don't think so. I just think that he is depressed because of his situation.
