Airplane rates went up up up, just a few years ago because of a lack of Jet fuel. Since then they have increased the production of Jet fuel, and dropped the production of standard gasoline. It's actually all a scam.

Hi,
Good questions. Actually air craft fuel is kerosene and it is a by product of producing gasoline. Kero has a slightly slower but very powerful explosive burn. Especially when mixed with air by the turbine in the front of the jet engine. Gasoline has a quicker detonation burn and therefore, kero would require tremendous air pressure/mixture and would not give the burn we need in an internal combustion engine.
The big oil company's are seeing what they can get by with. But after the midterm elections, which are starting today, and the repubs hit the road and start selling hot dogs, there are going to be a lot of changes and investigations into price fixing and gouging on fuel prices and don't be surprised at class action law suites against the major oil producers. They have followed a moron who will never make it to 2008 without impeachment.

What petrol crisis, there is plenty of gas to go around, it just costs a little more, maybe when petrol gets more expansive yet, the car prices come down, just like the airfares.

Yes, aircraft fuel has gone up in price, just like the price of gasoline. However, all airlines have made major cuts to the salaries of their employees and decreased their number of flights. As of right now, this is keeping them barely afloat.

Sort of gives you the feeling that some people are controlling the price of gas, doesn't it. Jet fuel is not conducive to car engines, as it is a different formula...would be worth a youtube taping to see what happens to a common Ford Focus on jet fuel, sort of like mento and diet coke i bet

I'm not sure, but it makes me mad that everytime anybody in the world farts they immediately say "gas prices will rise".
The oil companies in the states have had record profits in the first quarter over here. So, in reality, it is not needful to raise the gas prices. They only do because they are greedy, gouging the working class that have no choice but to buy gas because they have to go to work.
