how do you make whitewash?

I want to paint unfinished basement to get rid of spiders..

combination of milk and lime, test until it sticks to what you are painting. was developed and used to control flies back in the old days. If you are looking for decoration, modern paints are better as they do not have to be renewed every season

Use a water based paint and mix with water till you get the desired look. Find an inconspicuous spot to try it ,adding more water if needed. You want it to be very watery if your looking for white wash.
