There are quite a few reputable websites to order an external hard drive. Most are in the $100 range. A good example is at the below link, on sale today only from newegg.com. I've got one of these, and it works very well.

Low on resources, or low on disk space? If your low on resources, that means you need more memory, faster processor etc because what you have can't handle what you are trying to run. Low on disk space means that your HDD is filling up. (You sound like you are low on disk space) Did you try running disk cleanup, deleting temp folders, etc? Generally problems arise for people because they have too much crap on their HDD. That being said, it's best that you keep anything important on the second HDD, that way if anything happens to your Windows installation, you wont loose anything.
Yes, Newegg is good. I have this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144344

decide for between the super call manufacturers; Seagate, Maxtor or Western digital. What length are you searching for? 3.5" drives require a separate mains skill source, while 2.5" will draw skill from the computing device. additionally confirm you get a force with the stunning interface on your computing device: USB, Firewire or the two.

I would try Sam's Club or Ebay. Whatever you do, do NOT go to Circuit City or Best Buy.

I hate to say it, but Wal-mart would probably be the cheapest. I don't trust the websites either, but my brother-in-law swears by eBay. He can buy and sell anything. :)
